An access log features a record of all files which have been requested by the visitors while browsing your website. The list is detailed, so when you have a page with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files shall be in the log, not just the page. An access log usually contains the date, the Operating System, the Internet browser and the IP address for each file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the hottest files on your website. The log, that is also typically referred to as "raw data", is an addition to the web data you commonly get with a hosting account, not a substitute. An example why you could need this kind of a log is if you would like to use some software on your computer to prepare a report about the website’s general performance, but you don't want to use the conventional graphs and tables that come with the server-generated website stats.
Access Log Manager in Web Hosting
Our custom Hepsia CP has a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. As you sign in to your web hosting account and navigate to this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with just a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our state-of-the-art hosting platform shall create access logs for every single website hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is activated. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we provide with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should simply click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You can disable this feature anytime by following the exact same steps. You will find a Download link for each and every log within the same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the feature has been disabled, so you will still be able to view the data that's already been generated.
